The Perfect Collaboration: Why Chromeo and Breakbot should do a record together

Breakbot's By Your Side is as smooth as modern funk gets.  The record keeps an old, "your mom and dad's record" vibe to it with its incredibly vintage production,  The record is never overbearing with its arrangement.  It is funk, with piano and fat bass throughout.

Chromeo have been longtime proponents of new funk, specifically a subdivision called electro-funk, due to their use of synthesizers and a talkbox.  Each record Chromeo has put out has been progressively more accessible and pop without compromising on the funk at heart-- it's as if Roger Troutman of Zapp and Hall & Oates magically had two children of their own.

Breakbot's "By Your Side" is Fantastic

Breakbot's new record By Your Side is my current to-and-from work music.  The record has taken me by surprise because I've never been the biggest Breakbot fan-- sure I've loved some of his remixes, but this new record is truly the pinnacle of his success.

Breakbot releases "Programme" B-side (Free Download)

Wow.  Funk master Breakbot released a new track called "Programme"on Friday.  It's only a b-side to an upcoming single, but man, this track is cool.  Completely different than what many EDM artists are doing today.  Completely bumping and yet has some nice piano touch to it as well-- this track begs to be put on amongst friends while chilling out.  Breakbot's captured the 70s magically in his production as well.  Be on the look out for his new record By Your Side coming in the fall.

Chromeo - When The Night Falls [Official Video]

A couple days ago, Chromeo released their new video for "When The Night Falls" featuring Solange Knowles.  I don't normally post up videos on this site, but this one is just too good.  Also, it's got some incredible remixes... check out Breakbot's below.  Chromeo has an incredible synth collection, as seen in their appearance in Future Music a couple months ago.
